Five apps are free downloads that run as trials until they are unlocked. The key is tied to one device ID, paid for once, and cheaper here than on the store.
Read the device ID
Open the app on the watch. The 5-character ID sits in the menu and on the trial notice.
Pay once
Card payment, one charge, no account. The key is emailed straight after.
Enter the key
Type it into the app settings in Garmin Connect. The trial notice disappears.
One charge, one device. The key arrives by email within a minute.

Also sent by email. Enter it in the app settings in Garmin Connect — the trial notice disappears.
Lost the key, or changed watch? Send the device ID and the email you paid with and it will be reissued.
